Simply a build up of pent up buying pressure which has been weeks in the making IMHO, pattern traders would have recognised the build up early via the appearance of an ascending triangle over Nov/Dec. The build up will be due to people getting positioned for the upcoming anns... I expect. So todays move was inevitable ... 7.7-8c zone should now prove to be an area of particularly strong support and price should bounce out of that area if approached. To the upside resistance looks to be around the zone at 9.3 and a 2nd one a 10-10.5c ...after that Blue sky (unploughed ground!) .... If we get some decent drill results we should be trading above 10.5c relatively quickly
