Hmm, now then, your words above, "can become a dead soul when they cease breathing". Perhaps you are reading Gen wrong.
Gen 2:7 ........ and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life....... So right here the body has life, if the breath stops, the "body" looses life.
Gen 2:7 ...... and man become a living soul. So we have a body with life AND "a" living soul = 2
Rev 6:6-9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the alter the "souls" of them that were slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. The souls, with a loud voice then ask, how much longer O Lord does thou not judge and avenge our blood......... And they are told to rest for a little season.
Well,,,,, by gosh, we have souls that apparently rotted away or went up in smoke and yet they are some how, now talking = amazing Mr G.
And what do you know, we get over into 1 Cor 15: 45 onward and we see the dead and living bodies rise. I guess the dead ones are going to unite with what you say are dead souls. 1 Thes 4 tells us a similar story.
Eh, and what do you know, this all happens at the last trump. And by gosh, the events of the last trump really get nasty, phew that's OK because it appears the living are rising also at this moment with new spiritual bodies (those in Jesus) as well. That would seem to suggest then, that the last trump events are the wroth of God (not the great tribulation, it's over) which we are promised, we will be spared from.
But I suppose you wont get much of this Mr G because, despite that Jesus made it "very" clear that he was not a Spirit when he rose, you don't believe him. He made it clear, he was flesh and bone before he rose and the verse you probably use to try and debunk this, "flesh and blood can not enter heaven". Jesus never mentioned anything about "blood" and I suppose he wouldn't as he shed that.
So Jesus rose, new Body which is a spiritual body which IS NOT the same as "a spirit".
And to understand this spiritual body, refer to the 1 Cor & 1 Thes areas mentioned.
There are quite a few other verses supporting the soul subject which need to be taken into account when using the verses which you know doubt have as well = We need to use the Whole of God's Truth.
