Complacency can be a concern Alan. IMO Australia wont allow a degree of complacency that would destroy our general well being.
In comparative terms we are the lucky country. If push comes to shove we will always be self sufficient. Our small population and enormous resources give us a huge advantage. Only poor management or global disruptions can impinge. Mistakes do get made but they can always be remedied. We got through wars, and previous economic headwinds and are better placed than we have ever been before, largely due to the rise of the middle class in Asia that makes our resources in minerals, agriculture and intellectual know how more in demand. The degree can be impacted but Australia is imo the luckiest country in the world.
We will only come unstuck if some lunatic starts another major war including cold wars that impact trade.
