Australian-listed EnviroMission has unveiled plans to generate electricity in Australia and the US via giant solar thermal towers. The company claims it has received pre-feasibility data in Texas that supports its plan. The news provoked a surge in EnviroMission shares on 12 February 2007. The stock soared 79 per cent to $A0.25, before eventually dropping back to end trade at $A0.20. The shares are currently trading at about $A0.18. CEO, Roger Davey, says work should commence on the group's first power station, to be situated in Mildura, Victoria, in 2007, although final plans have yet to be drawn up.
