The fact that the trading halt has been extended indicates that there is disagreement between AXP and whoever is advising them on the price of the placement. That's not good. Expect the placement to be at least 10% below current SP.
Read nothing into the market depth. Those "in the know" would have pulled buy and sell orders prior to the trading suspension announcement. When the lifting is imminent, watch the sub $1.05 sell orders pile in
