You may notice that is what shares at this end of the market do, they go up on anticipation of news and once announced they then tend to go down. It is called "buy the rumor sell the fact". Once an announcement has been made speculators will often sell and lock in profits. Depending on how far a stock has run up prior to an announcement often determines how much pressure it comes under after the event.
