Why shouldn't you be able to trade shares actively as well as invest in them? As SP3 said, as long as you do it through separate accounts so you can show there is a distinction between the activities in each account, I don't see the problem. I would talk to the tax office or an accountant myself personally before actually doing it though to make sure it was right(I stick with classing myself as an investor)
