Truth,

From my understanding the first trial was hopelessly designed and executed. In fact it was so bad that it didn't reduce or block out the major variables of exercise and diet. Therefore the whole trial was meaningless and had to be repeated.

The second trial which was much better designed proved that the drug was ineffective.
