"This was 100mm thick with no reinforcement. Would there be an advantage using edencrete. A definite NO."
What if a 75MM thick Edencrete driveway could have been done for the same usable life as the 1974 100mm thick driveway ?
I was at a building site this morning in NZ where the house foundations are being poured with a method called ribraft , there is virtually no rebar being used and the rebar that is used is designed to shear off in an earthquake . The foundations are designed to move as a single unit in an earthquake , this form of foundation was proven to have less damage to it after the Christchurch earthquake , but is now being used in less earthquake prone areas due to the speed of putting up form work plus the insulation properties where large polystyrene blocks are moved apart the concrete poured in the gap for load bearing walls and then the polystyrene blocks are covered with mesh and a 75-100 mm thick layer of concrete .
One would think this would be a good use for Edencrete for a foundation that is literally designed to move due to earthquakes
