Nothing is 100%
The SP will consolidate or wobble or flatline, whatever we wish to call it, until there is a break of resistance levels, ( recent highs ), or a break of a support, ( recent low ).
Charting mostly is done after hours to give us a clearer indication of the days' trade.

As with anything the chart helps us to see where resistance/supports are & try to understand what will trigger the big moves up or down.
A long way away from even considering myself a novice with charts but I'll try to contribute if I feel I can, hopefully this post wasn't too erroneous.
Can't leave it all up to one, two or even a few ppl, gotta try to teach ourselves how to fish.
