I think that if market crashes the more businesses including banks will look to cut costs. IAM does exactly that for financial planning business ( mortgage business and financial planning are separate businesses within banks anyway, pls correct the me if I am wrong.)
If market crashes I don't think banks will be rushing to invest internally a system like IAM.
As pointed out previously, tough times brings about wallet tightening, who do you see to manage your finance....planners.
