I fully agree with that, there is too much dodgy financial stuff going on with religions, unions and charities that gets hidden away (never mind anything non-financial).
By making these organisations taxable and requiring an audit the government budget could possibly get a win and corruption gets exposed. If the moneys raised by these organisations are being spent properly ie. to legitimately support members, then there would be nothing to be concerned about.
Not sure if the government is the best recipient of extra tax revenue though.
