MOBILE phone users are being slugged up to $50 a month for services they have no idea they’ve signed up for after simply clicking on a website or advertisement banner.
Unwitting customers are only noticing the scam after receiving their monthly mobile phone bill and seeing a massive price spike.
The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman has received thousands of complaints about the practice in the last year — and they say it is getting worse.
It is suspected of netting Optus and Telstra millions of dollars.
It seems it was netting them millions of dollarsI wonder whether MBE will ever confirm or deny that a notable portion of their revenue was derived from unwitting mobile users? At least MBE has given a clear sign that it is addressing the underlying issues.
