It was obvious early yesterday evening around 6.30 that with demand at 3,000MW,
gas was keeping up near 2,100MW,
the minor rooftop solar was ebbing as it always does as the day ends,
then wind decided to fade away leaving the interconnectors too big a load to carry.
AEMO could have ordered another gas unit but I suppose they feared the cost penalty if it was not required.
