I think you're being kind when saying management timelines are their goals.
If you defend your timelines on solid, logical reasons then there's no reason why management cant do the same. No? even optimistic in your projections (if correct).
So they can't be Goals when they're unrealistic ones.

Dont get me wrong.... I wouldn't have lasted over the years if I thought TNG weren't going anywhere with SMS but as far as timeframes given.

As for not being a $ in a month....explain how PLS went from 3.5c to 80c in a few months when they were way behind in developement from TNG at the time.
Smaller project yes I know but at some point sp will go to another level.
