couple of thoughts on the SharkBite (quality) versus some other (lesser) brand discussion.
1. does the consumer choose - or more frequently the plumber? I'm just not sure how much a premium can be attributed to superior brand/reputation, when consumer doesn't know/care which product to use and the decision is often out of their hands.
2. There are many push-to-connect products. Why are people so confident Sharkbite is the highest quality/best designed product. The rival product I used was also push-to-connect, was super-easy, and seemed well designed. Which IS better? Is there evidence that Sharkbite is more leak-resistant due to better design/manufacture? Why?
As a v. long term ARB holder, I'm very attuned to the quality/brands you can trust argument, but does it work as well on hidden plumbing product purchased once a decade, versus "look what I have now got on my pride and joy 4wd purchases"?? I'm not sure.
