Been reading the toing-and-froing on this company
for a while now after taking a very big position in this
company fairly recently. My rationale is very simple.
By any measure this is a massive, world-class resource.
After all the years of work put in by Union the Iranians
were to just snatch the project away, who would want
to take over and commit the huge capex in the future?
What signal would it send to foreign investors? Would you put any money into its successor? I know there is risk. There is also the prospect of huge reward.
Furthermore, the chances of companies unrelated to
Union wanting to operate in the country would be nil.
I think the odds are with us. We'll see.
