On March 2, I received the following e-mail from Metabolic:

"Dear John,

"Thank you for your email.

"We are currently compiling a list of frequently asked questions which may address your query.

"These will be made available to shareholders next week.

"Kind regards,

"METABOLIC PHARMACEUTICALS LIMITED"

Needless to say, this communication has been followed by total inaction. Does the fact that since February's abrupt and incomplete announcement regarding the demise of the obesity programme there has been no update, no plan forward, no resignations, no nothing at all bother me? You bet it does.

How can anyone have confidence in a management that either can't or won't communicate with its owners?
