The decant pond leak and lightening strike, are in of themselves not the major cause of concern, rather the the throughput rates into the tank leach are the crux of the matter.
It was my understanding that this debottlenecking works were attempting to lift the nameplate production through the increase of EW cells (14) but also allow for the processing of a finer feed.
The most straight forward solution would be possibly to change the feed, but the only feed available for stacking is the very composition that seems to be causing the current problems.
From what I am able to gleam from this announcement, the feed from the tailings appears to be too fine, lacking the right composition of course material which reduces the flow, putting pressure on the pumps and other components and causes build up of fines.
"The Company does not currently believe the design throughput rate can be achieved without
modification to the existing flow sheet and is currently exploring remedial options."
My view is the company employed the new CEO with a view of solving this issue. The question is can he solve it.
