Interesting that the ATO could act to deny the tax benefit from a share wash, whilst gladly charging CGT on the lower cost base. I'll ask them to reinstate my higher cost base in that case

I wonder if their record keeping system is sophisticated enough to know if I've bought an equivalent amount of shares back. Maybe they request this info as part of your tax return when you log the realised gains/losses, I can't quite recall now.

100% with you on the recent SP trajectory. I read one of the ASIC links posted recently and unfortunately it stated that they don't publish the outcome of their investigations. So unless TC is investigated and held to account publicly it seems we won't know the outcome.
