Property is still affordable for young couples if they think outside the box. Forget buying a house to live in, buy an investment property for tax breaks say $40k pa interest, rent it to another couple who in turn buy another investment property that you in turn rent, then charge each say $10k pa rents, claim the $30k losses on your tax return, courtesy of other taxpayers.
