Seems he may be a heavy user and if so, when he tries to get clean, he will be plunged into depression, then he will be made to face his demons (ie. the pain he was trying to mask by using). And he won't make it through that unless he gets some very skillful help. Can't see him ever being any good again, unfortunately.
