Ashley, I believe after paying off another US$2B this FY, FMG‘s next move will be diversification, they will not buy expansive projects that cost US$1B+, M&A will be very selective. Buying other high cost IO juniors is not the answer as it will bring up FMG‘s cost, this will be a disaster really. FMG have enough IO in reserve for them to mine for many years to come.
I‘m willing to wait for the US$2B debt repayment, it only take 4 more months anyway, in investing term, it‘s like next week, hehe.
