You need a finance degree to work at a fund, they take a while, lots of maths etc.

Point is, they're not morons, they know exactly what they're doing, and even if they weren't doing it they'd be smart enough to realize it looks bad, and would do well to cover themselves from any possible prosecution by perhaps not releasing that statement while they're selling down OR by saying in that statement something like "Although we are decreasing our holding due to exposure/portfolio imbalances" or some other variation of media spin. But they didn't do that, because they weren't doing it by coincidence and that would have drawn attention to it.
