Yeah it's a pretty sick situation in the Brisbane area for those buying. After a long stint away from here OS I am currently looking around to buy, most houses end up going after the first inspection. Sometimes 20-40k more than the asking price, most agents aren't even putting prices on the houses and just accepting the highest offer. There's just a lack of stock for those looking. This was once a great place to live and you could have a great lifestyle without being on the big bucks. I use to tell people this in Europe but that lifestyle is quickly being eroded. The area I use to live in Paddington as a teenager, which was a great working class suburb has become yuppy central, all a bit sickening. Somethings got to give and I don't think the house prices will be it, theres to much greed and optimism behind the market. Bring on the next interest rate rise....
