Dy exports up 7.5% in 2016, 66% shipped to Japan

    A 7.5% rise in China’s dysprosium oxide export quantity was seen in 2016 compared to the previous year even though many overseas consumers have been figuring out technologies to reduce their dysprosium consumptions.

    According to the latest customs statistics, China exported 84,737 kg dysprosium oxide in 2016, up 7.5% from the export amount of 78,816 kg seen in 2015.

    Japan was still the number one dysprosium oxide buyer from China last year, purchasing 54,819 kg dysprosium in 2016 and accounting for 64.7% of China’s total dysprosium oxide throughout the whole year.

    In addition, China’s dysprosium oxide export amount in December 2016 was seen a sharp rise of 252.2% year on year to 17,098 kg, compared to 4,855 kg exported in the same month of 2015.

    15,758 kg dysprosium oxide was delivered to Japan in the month, soaring 608.2% year on year and jumping 214.5% from November 2016.

    In the meantime, China totally exported 46,749 tonnes rare earths in 2016, up 34.2% from the export amount of 34,832 tonnes seen in 2015, according to the statistics from China’s General Administration of Customs.
