Hi @nui - can I just clarify that I understand your explanation on this photo?  You're saying that Ore intentionally dug this hole in the embankment to allow excess water to drain out of the pond?  Ok, that makes sense - I guess if it rains, you need a way to manage water right?
Then you're saying that in this particular photo, the high flow of draining water has simply washed away the banks somewhat, making it look a little ragged?  So perhaps from a large rainfall recently?  Have I got that right so far?
I certainly can't understand how a designed, shallow pond would ever rupture an embankment designed to contain it - that would be terrible engineering.  At the same time, I am just not sure how a hole this size would arise.  Wouldn't a flow like the one we see in the photo mess with the whole pond's evaporation process?  Are we seeing lithium concentrated brine flowing out of the pond?  Anyways, if you have time to help me wrap my head round this I'd really appreciate it!  I am guessing other less savvy folk are also not totally clear on what is happening here.
