it is a race, Syrah has a lot of fine and amorphous so its not in direct competition for example jumbo can be processed down if we wanted to compete but why turn a $6000 product into a $400 product - i think there will be significant demand beyond syrah - as mentioned in my previous posts if syrah pumps out 250kTpa it wont be enough for 1 of the 12 giga factories so really theres room for 12-24 syrah sized mines imo for batteries - then theres the influx of new tech and graphene composites around the corner again imo will drive graphite demand more than EV / battery demand will. not to mention solarcity and the house electric storage market.
