Oz Equities have now provided the following update which is quoting brokers (by consensus) suggesting that it is the NAB.
I have been arguing this proposition for some time, as my earlier postings on this thread have suggested, including of 12th March (where mention of $5.60 was made, but in a different context).
Back then, I was arguing re-capitalisation @$4.75 (being a 15% discount to market, at a then suggested price of $5.60). Now, it appears that the NAB may be bidding for their stake @$5.60 which is @~15% to last night's close of $4.91 (give or take a few cents).
According to Oz Equities:
"Further AMP Flash!
Rumours about the players vary, but consensus is it is NATIONAL AUSTRALIA. AXA is an also ran. The price is said to be $5.60. The brokers involved are JB Were and Salomon Smith"
