I don't believe there is any malice here Ophir. The GDXJ is just so large now that its rebalancing has a severe effect on the market. RMS didn't have much of a bid hence gets smacked down when the big forced sell orders come through.
If a few of the bigger local buyers were aware of the opportunity available then perhaps they would step in to soak up some volume.
RMS weighting in the GDXJ is actually going to be unchanged and the expected net share flow was supposed to be pretty minimal. So I was a bit surprised when my order got hit.
I expect it will open up strongly on Monday as you say.
