In Australia it is quite common for houses to have interior walls that are framed with lumber [we call it timber here. ;-) ]
Even the exterior walls often have a timber frame, with a skin of brick. The roof frame sits on the exterior wall frame, not on the brick. Not every house is done like this, but timber frame is very common.

All rental properties (houses, flats, units and apartments) are typically advertised with a per week price.

All things considered I wouldn't live anywhere else in the world but in Australia. Our internet is rubbish, but everything else is awesome compared to what I read about and where I have visited elsewhere in the world.
