Hello cujo, no animosity here, but the LVAD is sometimes referred to as an artificial heart, even by Prof Esmore, as it suits the media he is often responding to
The LVAD is attached to the left ventricle of the existing heart, which is not replaced.
LVAD is short for left ventricle assist device, it is not an artificial heart in the sense that the heart is removed
The LVAD has even been removed from one heart, as the heart it was supporting recovered sufficiently to allow its removal
