I attended the Brisbane meeting this morning and it did prove entertaining. I'm not sure I'm any clearer on the palace revolution however I'm now less convinced about Geoff Wilson's good intentions. Geoff was at the meeting and was somewhat reluctantly given the opportunity to present a short statement, however I was surprised that after attending 4 such meetings he wasn't prepared with a clear and eloquent statement of his purpose and intentions. Clearly he had support from those present who are dual holders of WAM and HHV and who have benefited well from his handling of the WA? domestic funds. Perhaps they feel he is the right man to boost the returns from HHV, but it looks to me like just as big a keyman risk as Peter Hall was. What would we be saying today if PH's punt on the Trump effect had been correct? I left totally unconvinced GW has a clear and ethical vision for the proposed new board and I was also surprised at the clear animosity he held for Paul Jensen. There also seemed to be some lack of understanding by some holders on the difference between Directors' Fees and the performance/management fee paid to the investment manager HHL.
