Well, if the ASX market works, and that is an IF that I have moved some chips onto, then the deal will go sour and the DOW sholders will vote it down. There will be a slight earnings hit but the DOW SP will go back up to the $7 when the deal is called off.
I do not think that will happen just because the instos baulked, BAL and VOC are different cases entirely. BAL had a flawed distribution model and had plenty of lower cost competitors such as AHF, A2M and FCG. Amcomm was a fantastic company, VOC not quite the same aura, VOC lost its lustre when Amcomm gave in at a puny SP.
DOW was, is and undoubtedly will be a great company in the months and years to come so it is an opportunity to buy a great company at a great price IMHO but pls DYOR.
ST volatility should be treated with the respect that volatility deserves and the long term trend is always a good trend. DOW has good governance for a company on the ASX, not the same garotted governance, risk and compliance of some others in the ASX 200 IMHO but pls DYOR.
