Indeed. What makes it (i.e. Sanofi & Medimmune not paying any significant upfronts etc) even more confusing is that Amgen forked out $75 million in cash/financing knowing Sanofi & Medimmune had not paid much for product access, plus the fact Unilife was on its knees at the time. Sanofi/Medimmune didnt lift a finger to save Unilife.... it was Amgen that did the heavy lifting. I believe the Amgen deal was a brilliant deal for shareholders, all things considered.
