Some points to consider :

* the fact that we are dealing with a US based company suggests that the eventual ibruprofen patch products will produced for the US market (and others).

* There are two major players in ibuprofen in the US : Advil (Pfizer) and Motrin (Johnson and Johnson).  Its worth noting that Nurofen (reckitt benckiser) is not sold in the US.  Another product called Aleve is also popular, but that uses a different NSAID (Naproxen) and is made by the German company Bayer.

* Of all these three top brands of NSAIDs and in fact ALL NSAIDs sold in the USA, there is not one topical gel available over the counter.  The Nurofen Gel or Voltarin Emulgel so easily purchased in Australia has no equivalent in the USA.

* The reason you can't find a topical gel in the USA is that there is no dose control.  People could potentially slather it on and receive too large a dose.   This was told to me by Jeff Edwards at the 2016 Adelaide meeting.

* Enter the Advil or Motrin / OBJ patch.  Instant measured dose control*.   This could well be the beginning of a major new market in the US.  If the studies continue to show success and FDA approval is achieved, this could become a huge differentiator for one of these companies.
