Sorry my post wasnt to aviod CGT but merely to use the gain to continue the investment in the same stock until the end of finacial year. I think a lot of traders sell their whole investment in one go realising a profit, then perhaps wished they had stayed in and maybe buy back in at a higher price.
This is why if I think a share is going to continue to go up, I will sell my initial investment amount to use for investing in other things, then leave in my profit with the initial (capital gain stock) to hopefully gain more profit until CGT is due, hope this makes sense.
I should have explained in my last post that the CGT is inevitable but of course u can also offset it against your capital losses for the same year etc.
Anyway hope I have cleared it up.
