Shares traded flat most of the morning session as further modest gains in the big banks and BHP are offset by a big plunge in Telstra following news that TPG is building a mobile network in Australia.

Japanese stocks also have shed more than 1 per cent to their lowest level in over four months.
The Australian dollar just dropped about two-tenths of a cent to the day's low of US74.87¢ following a soft open for Chinese iron ore futures as well as weak inflation numbers out of the country
Meanwhile, Chinese consumer prices rose 0.9 per cent in the 12 months through March, just below the predicted 1 per cent rise. But producer price inflation came in a bit higher than expected, at 7.6 per cent
The overnight surge in the gold price is propelling the stocks of local gold miners higher.
Newcrest, Australia's biggest gold miner, has added 2 per cent.

Been a very slow week so far for me. IAM finally came to fruition after selling for loss earlier on during the day. Also nailed TMT but didn't get as much as i would have liked. Took a position in AZY
