I think Kate would be going to the RIU Sydney Resources Round-up Conference for one of two reasons.

She will have made an announcement about some progress on the U front by then (possibly on Friday this week)

or

She will be going just to maintain her contacts and the general networking that goes on at these things.

I really don't think it is because she is trying to get those few extra frequent flyer miles on her account. She will starts to look a little silly though if she keeps pitching up at these conferences and has nothing new to report. Uzbekistan may be the surprise here.
