The point is that, based on my past experience with solar, it is not as reliable as many people think. In the business I was involved in a while ago, we use to supply and install solar panels for the sole purpose and intent of generating power for keeping our own instruments and area wide repeaters stations operational, (and customers own as well), simply because the power wasn't available where it was required, and let me tell you that more times than not we had to travel long distances at all hours of the day, and/or night, at times on dangerous mountainside tracks, to replace batteries which were running flat.
I can understand that if both power and solar are running in conjunction and complement with one another that problem could be avoided but, there is always a but.
I also understand that solar panels may be more reliable than what they used to be at the time, nevertheless, and based on my past experience, I still have my reservations.
