There is a 4 day lag (T+4) on net short positions provided by the ASX.
But as of 18th April, 4.59% or 19.6m shares that need to be purchased to unwind all short positions.
So they are hoping we sell now so they can realise their losses at reasonable prices.
If however further positive news comes, they will have no choice but to buy on market to cover their positions.
