In the long run it is in our best interests. The work I do is is in insurance, but have seen in north Queensland mines significant loss of production from floods. In one case one of the pits effectively acted as a catchment for flood waters and actually protected townships. Not good for the mine operation though. In the Pilbara region I think it is sensible to have a flood assessment done. Agree with your comments that the DMP is likely to rely on hydrologists findings. Could be wrong, but I think it would be fairly common to rely on expert opinion here.
