I think this article is more aimed at the global LNG market, Australian supply may not be as large as expected given this domestic reservation policy and may impact the global market supply imbalance given Australia is a large player. Issues such as this will also be a factor for US gas exports too- i.e. if US gas exports ramps up too quickly there will be domestic pressure to stop exports- Maggy already being permitted alleviates a lot of this risk but the later projects may run into issues.

It is absolutely ridiculous that domestic gas prices are higher than prices exported to Asia, choking off what remains of Australian manufacturing, when Australia has so much gas in the ground. We are basically exporting our competitive advantage to overseas countries, look what cheap energy prices have done for US manufacturing jobs. Aussies like incitec pivot are moving their factories to the States to acccess cheap gas for fertiliser production. I cant see how the LNG export rate will be maintained unless domestic prices come down to at least export parity prices.
