Nikk0, i may have confused you with my definition of long and short term. 5 years, in my opionion, is not long term. You have made impressive returns over the past 12 months. Firstly - sincere congrats. Secondly, (depending on our definitions of impressive returns obviously) if you can continue those sort of returns over the next 2 decades using TA, I will be extremely impressed and I will give you my money to manage, and I will write a thesis with you that disproves the nobel prize winning EMH. Everyone has made a pretty impressive returns over the past 6 years or whatever, but if you have done so with TA, then you have been lucky enough to be experimenting with those sort of strategies in a strong economic climate.
I may have also confused you by saying that you cant make money with TA (im not sure if i actually said that, but if so - it may have been misinterpreted) - i basically mean that you cant reliable, over the long term, use TA to produce alpha. You can get lucky and make some great trades and you can certainly get lucky for a few years. But you will find, if you compare your returns to those who follow the EMH and dont rely on what everyone else already knows, you will, over the long term, come out second best.
Having said that, I wish you the best of luck with you TA investments and I am happy to have my opinions proved wrong.
