I don't believe the shorters are in loss. The way it looks the second wave of shorters (from 30 Jan) have already covered. The first wave of shorting still remain and have fairly substantial profits.

The main game for Aconex is all about growth. If they hit their projected future targets or growth starts to accelerate at a faster pace than management forecasts, shorters will have no option but to cover.
