Travel chain collapses in bankruptcy fallout

Western Australian (WA) accountant Joe Ferrone has been declared bankrupt, and owes creditors some $A3.5m. RSM Bird Cameron Partners insolvency experts Mark Conlan and Neil Cribb have been appointed to administrate four companies controlled by Ferrone, including the Travelshop chain of travel agencies. However, only some of the outlets trading under that banner in WA are affected, as the others are not connected to Ferrone. The Travel Compensation Fund will be able to reimburse at least part of any money lost by customers of Travelshop. Ferrone was also unveiled recently as the recipient of unauthorised payments in his role as chair of Australian Waterwise Solutions.
