I think a lot of those short or just avoiding the stock are not "insider traders" just people taking an opposing view to the bulls. I've said for 6-12 months that VOC overpaid for acquisitions, the industry is facing headwinds and recent sentiment has been poor. The bulls weren't complaining when this rocketed up share price wise on the back of greed by both management and shareholders riding the wave. You win some you lose some so diversify, take profits when you can and always have a sceptical hat on when significant M&A or Debt is used to pursue growth (followed by a large number of staff departures).
The stock market is a game and nobody is complaining when upgrade to earnings are announced. Losses loom larger than gains. Enjoy the wins when you get them.
