HML has hugely outperformed everything, and am hoping for similar from BHD.
Global Masters fund 5 yrs of 27% pa has outperformed.
Market neutral type or long /short funds such as Watermark, AEG and ALF won't do as well during up markets but will greatly outperform in bear markets.
A lot of the funds with mediocre long term performance are passive close to the index funds such as AFIC, Argo, AUI, Milton, BKI. Many of the funds I am interested in such as WLE, Fat prophets, BHD, Forager, Watermark global leaders, have only been listed a short while therefore don't have performance figures but I expect they will do a lot better.
It is definitely harder to outperform the global markets than the ASX. So for global exposure I also like ETFs such as Betashares NASDAQ, Ishares S&P US small caps and Van Ecks Morningstar MOAT.
