As much as I support recycling I have to ask, is this really where NMT wants to go?
The article I've linked below is saying the new generation Tesla batteries will hold 95% of their capacity after 1200 cycles. That's 480,000 km for a 100 kwh model S or 300,000 km for a 60 kwh model 3 . That's more than 10 years of average driving. The car will wear out before the battery and the battery will then be used for storage.
Can someone please tell me what we intend to recycle if this tech becomes universal?
NMT has a fantastic balance sheet and is well positioned in lithium sector, but I need to be convinced that this is the best place to be investing our money in the short term. In the longer term, this tech will be essential but in the short term we just need more lithium and more cobalt. Lots and lots of the stuff.
