This 1 billion dollar write down will help SGH to claim money from WTG and also help to extinguish CA claims.

It is not that simple.
If SGH fights ,it will have many reasons to successfully defend CA claims.
Looks like they have decided if they can close it up with insurance claims fine, otherwise it looks like fight may B on.
WTG i think will have no place to hide and save its A z when SGH comes after it.
BTW if any one can quickly find out what is the market cap of WTG and how much cash reserves it has.
